We are now seeking a Senior Property Solicitor to join us in Watford on a one year, fixed term contract.

This is the ideal role for a high calibre property lawyer with in-depth EU and local government knowledge to take on a fresh challenge working with our progressive and exciting borough council.

Working primarily with properties in the Croxley Business Park, you will have the chance to support this modern, beautifully designed commercial area with your expertise and knowledge.

You’ll discover an area experiencing significant financial input (£1.4bn in public and private funding), over 3,500 registered businesses and a highly skilled workforce, making for an engaging and varied role.

Your Role

As the Senior Property Solicitor, you will be tasked with undertaking a range of landlord, tenant and building contract work relating to the Croxley Business Park.

This engaging role will see you providing legal advice and completing all the legal work required for the leasing and management of industrial and commercial properties.

Overseeing a range of work by the Departmental Law Advisors, you will provide advice on building contracts, draft new contracts and undertake commercial property transactions as required.

Additionally, your role will involve:

- Advising Members and officers from across the Council
- Supervising the Law Advisors in the delivery of landlord and tenant work
- Supporting the Council’s general property portfolio as required
- Working with tenants and landlords at the Croxley Business Park
- Liaising with third parties and their advisers to support achieving Council priorities

About You

To be considered as the Senior Property Solicitor, you will need:

- In-depth knowledge and extensive experience of property law, commercial law and contract law
- Knowledge and experience of the principles of Best Value and procurement and public partnerships, including EU regulations and Directives and local government law as it relates to property matters
- The ability to understand and interpret highly complex legal documents and legislation and apply that understanding to the relevant task
- Experience of drafting highly complex legal agreements, contracts, leases, transfers and other legal documents in plain English
- The ability to supervise others
