Job Title:     Finance and Administration Officer

South West Regional Organised Crime Unit.

Location: Based in the vicinity of J29 (Exeter) of the M5 ? With the expectation of travel across the region.

Salary Scale:         Scale SO1 £28,353 - £30,195.

Hours per week:    37 hours per week.

No of posts:         1 x Perm.

Description:

The successful applicant will join a busy team, managing financial, administrative and facilities support services to the South West Regional Organised Crime Unit, the regions response to serious and organised crime. 

This is a new position and we are looking for an individual who has strong leadership skills, has experience and enjoys managing staff and is able to demonstrate strong communication skills.  Providing advice and guidance to all staff within the unit is a large part of this role and you must be dynamic, tenacious and able to respond to operational requirements and changes in direction quickly.

Estates management will be a key element of this role and co-ordinating departmental maintenance reviews ensuring maintenance schedules are prepared and audits undertaken in line with Health & Safety regulations. For example, fire wardens and evacuation drills, first aiders and security processes across SW ROCU estate, to ensure we are complaint Health & Safety legislation.

Whilst you will be part of a team, you will not be under direct supervision as the unit is based across two main hubs, therefore you must be self-motivated and able to make decisions on occasions in the absence of your line manager. You will be responsible for providing necessary support to the Business Support Officer and Business Manager in the provision of budgetary and management information. Previous experience of liaising with senior management is essential, ideally within a multi-agency working environment.

Previous experience of analysing and presenting financial management information is vital and use of computer packages along with MS Office packages to an intermediate level is also essential in this role. Other responsibilities include management of recruitment processes, ensuring they are administered in a timely and efficient manner.

The post holder will be required to travel around the region and must be prepared to do so. Details of the main responsibilities can be found in the job description.

The SW ROCU was established in September 2010 to disrupt serious and organised crime across the South West of England. It is made up of the five forces in the region ? Avon and Somerset, Devon and Cornwall, Dorset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire ? to work across the county borders. It brings together the capability and funding to gather intelligence, crack serious and organised crime networks and seize the assets of the criminals involved.

The successful candidate will also be required to undergo vetting before taking up the post - Police Management Vetting (MV) and National Security Vetting - Security Clearance (Enhanced) Level and must hold a full, current driving licence.
