An exciting new job opportunity has arisen to join a Southampton based leading building product distributor as an Inventory & Stock Manager. Working with a small team, the main purpose of the Inventory Control Analyst is to co-ordinate, manage and run an efficient inventory for multiple retail branches UK wide.

Duties will include:

  • Develop an excellent understanding and command of the Inventory Management tools (Excel driven) to plan and control of Stock Inventory as a whole.

  • To manage and update stock profiles accounting for change in customer demand and supplier suitability, working closely with the sales teams and Senior Management.

  • To assist in the forecasting, planning and ordering towards purchase targets, to aid local and national rebate initiatives.

  • To manage, control and direct stock throughout ensuring zero charge.

  • To identify any system issue or potential areas of system development, to aid the operation.

  • To report on a monthly basis by way of written or oral communications detailing data from KPI's and events, exploring ways of maintaining or improving performance with the Head of Inventory.

  • To provide cover for the HUB Transport Manager as required.



Knowledge / capabilities/ experience required:

  • Has the ability to understand and address the remit of inventory control procedures using strong analytical skills.

  • Good interpersonal skills, a respected individual, good networking skills, challenges when needed.

  • Develops working relationships easily.

  • Highly collaborative, able to work as peers with a team consisting of internal individuals.

  • Capable of delivering KPI stock targets.

  • Strong understanding of business, profit and loss


  • Strong customer focus both internal and external. A commitment to quality, excellence and continuous improvement.

  • Good communication skills, with the ability to influence others to deliver results.

  • Capable of dealing with resistance within the role.

  • Well organised and process oriented.

  • Commitment to learn and develop new skills to streamline processes.
