Your role will principally sit within the design engineering dept taking concept designs through to production, although at peak times there will be opportunities to flex your creative talent and help generate the initial concepts.
The types of work you will be involved with could range from the simplest of flat pack wooden structures, through to more complicated highly aesthetic pieces of retail or contract furniture.
Job Role Duties:
?? Work in tandem with the other design teams and inbound sales teams to ensure that designs are suitable for production, and meet client expectations
??Study concepts and sketches, interpret these, and convert them into a manufacturable product.
??Analyse design concepts, and look for potential issues prior to production/manufacturing
??Perform value engineering principles to achieve best cost
??Produce technical drawings suitable for manufacture
??Produce supporting technical documentation for each project
??Liaise with both internal and external manufacturing resources to produce full cost breakdowns
??Maintain relationships with current third-party suppliers, and help to build new ones
??Assist in all aspects of in-house manufacturing from prototypes through to mass production and installation.
??Work closely with various departments to ensure the production process runs smoothly.
Ideal skills & Experience:
??You have knowledge of designing with, wood, metal and plastics. It's a bonus if you also know; graphics, glass, powder coating
??You have an eye for detail, and you might already be in the Point of sale or contract furniture sector, but if not, you have recognised the core skills required for this role and feel that your experiences are directly transferable.
?? You can multitask, essential as you will be working on multiple projects at a time, all of which will be at differing stages in their evolution.
??You know Solid works, you can model with intelligence, generate full detailed engineering drawings, and assign full BOM's to your creations
??You might also have a working knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator, which for this role would be ideal, but of not we can get you up to speed with the basics.

??Organised and timely with your outputs
??Ideally within the Point of Sale or Contract furniture sectors
??Able to create technical drawings suitable for production, and any supporting technical documentation (instruction diagrams etc)
??Ability to use or willingness to learn Illustrator/Photoshop to support projects (light use only)
??An understanding of manufacturing processes in wood, steel, and plastic
??An understanding of methods of construction and assembly in wood, steel, and plastic
??An understand of fabricated structures, and an ability to spot potential issues therein
??A good commercial head, with a good working knowledge of how to develop and detail a full project costing.
??Ideal but not essential would be an understanding of print methods for display items
??Excellent problem-solving abilities
??Good attention to detail
??Good knowledge of Microsoft Office software
