We are looking for a Part Time Supported Employment Advisor to lead on our organisational commitment recruit and retain more people with learning disabilities into paid employment within Dimensions.

You will work closely with the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Manager in delivering the strategic objective to increase the number of people we employ who have a learning disability.

Based in Head Office in Theale you will support Business Support Managers and teams by supporting and advising them with best practice guidance and practical advice.

You will provide support to colleagues with a learning disability in our employment according to their needs.

You will need to be self-motivated, an effective communicator and be passionate about equal opportunities for people with a learning disability. Previous experience of working with people with a learning disability is essential. Using a stepped approach to teaching a new skill to someone with a learning disability is desirable.

The full time salary for this role based on 37.5 hours is GBP21,997.83.

About the role

  • Providing professional support to the organisation, acting as a reliable source of information and advice
  • Working with managers and teams, supporting and advising them of the best practice approaches to supporting someone with a learning disability in employment.
  • Developing positive relationships with specialist organisations to offer paid employment and work experience opportunities to people who have a disability.
  • Providing support and information to individuals, their families, carers, prior to, during and subsequent to any work trial, interview, induction etc.

About you

It is essential that you:

  • Have experience of working with individuals with learning disabilities and autism
  • Have experience of using a stepped approach to teaching a new skill to someone with a learning disability
  • Are able to manage your own time and workload
  • Have experience of meeting targets and deadlines
  • Can demonstrate skills in coaching, training and teaching
  • Experience of proactively developing partnerships with external organisations and developing positive relationships
  • Are to communicate effectively at all levels (both orally and in writing) and to build effective working relationships internally and externally
  • Have good all round IT skills
