* To provide a high quality domestic and catering service to patients, staff and visitors maintaining a clean and safe environment in accordance with the specification.
* Undertaking necessary duties to ensure the upkeep of a clean and hygienic environment within the hospital and associated areas. These duties will be carried out both in patient, and non-patient environments and may also entail specialised cleaning tasks. To be responsive to service needs as they arise and to constantly seek to improve the productivity and quality of the service.
* All work must be undertaken in line with health, safety, security and Company and Trust policies and procedures, including infection control, COSHH etc.
* The post holder may work in an environment where they could be exposed to sensitive circumstances.
* The post holder will be exposed to some unpleasant environmental conditions.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
* The regeneration/cooking of chilled/frozen/fresh cook meals at Ward level, ensuring safety procedures are followed with regard to the cooking cycle and service of lunch and supper to patients.
* Receiving chilled meals as distributed by the main kitchen, checking for quantity, quality, food safety etc., sign picking sheet delivery note.
* Serve patients meals. (Maintaining presentation and temperature control).
* Carry out other food service procedures including, serving of beverages setting of tables (accounting for all cutlery), clearing of tables / servery, loading & unloading of ward dishwasher etc.
* Feedback to Supervisor patient's comments and ideas.
* Ensure kitchen is maintained in a clean and hygienic state and all cleaning schedules adhered to.
* The effective cleaning and maintenance of all hygiene standards within a designated area and all of its facilities.
* Collection and safe removal of non-clinical and/or clinical waste within your area of work in line with Company procedures and Trust policies.
* May be required to assist with meal services and be responsible for beverage services to the required standard.
* Ensure confidentiality, privacy and dignity is maintained at all times in accordance with the Data Protection Act and in line with Company and Trust policy, where appropriate.
* Conduct yourself in a professional manner whilst on Trust and Company premises.
* Responsible for securing areas after cleaning as required.
* Responsible for the security of alarms, keys, access swipes.
* Use all mechanical and electrical equipment in a correct and safe manner, using appropriate methods of work, following training, including trolleys and cleaning equipment.
* Maintain a clean, neat and tidy appearance, complying with Company and Trust uniform and hand care guidelines and high standards of personal hygiene.
* Report immediately, any faults or defects to Trust or Company equipment or premises, especially those which could be dangerous.
* To work in other areas of the contract as requested by the Service Manager
