Operations Shift Team Leader (STL)

An exciting opportunity has arisen within BWSC Generation Services UK Ltd at Brigg Renewable Energy Plant, a 40MW straw-fired power plant supplying clean renewable electricity in North Lincolnshire.

Job Description
Reporting to the Operation Manager, responsible on a shift-rota basis for the safe operation and environmental performance of the plant and security of the site.

Specific Deliverables 

  • Ensuring the plant is operated with respect to safety, environmental and operational limits at all times, whilst maximising availability, reliability, efficiency and ensuring the plant is dispatching in consultation with PPA/DNO to fulfil system operator and PPA arrangements. 
  • Provide overall supervision and development of the shift team, to ensure team and individual development, safe generation and environmental performance of the site.
  • Responsible for delivery, using ?on-shift? resources, of the planned and reactive first line maintenance, operational routines and testing requirements, to achieve availability and reliability targets required.
  • Accountable for adopting and enacting role(s) within the site safety rules, including the isolation of Mechanical Plant and Electrical Apparatus and associated HV switching up to 33kV.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Applicants will ideally be educated to HNC/HND level in a process/engineering subject, with a high level of practical thermal/process plant operational experience and have experience of working shifts.
  • Knowledge and experience of biomass or thermal power plant processes; in particular a thorough understanding of permit and safety systems, electrical distribution,  switchgear and HV switching(33KV).
  • Knowledge and experience of steam turbines, combustion systems, steam cycle chemistry, WTP, generators, flue gas emission abatement and overall plant performance monitoring.
