A primary PRU in Southwark is recruiting an experienced teaching assistant to start in September 2019. The posts is ongoing for the full academic year. This role is full time, working hours are 8.45am - 4.15pm Monday to Friday.

Students aged 5-11 years old have an Educational Health Care Plan outlining SEMH (Social Emotional Mental Health) difficulties as their primary need, however some students may have additional needs such as ASD and ADHD. The schools aims to support student's barriers to learning, while helping them with communication skills and emotional intelligence. They have a unique approach to managing behaviour and believe in a nurturing and therapeutic approach.

This particular role will require a member of staff to support a student in Y5 with Autism. Under the direction of the class teacher you will prepare and deliver lessons/activities for your student. You must have excellent written communication, as you will be required to write reports on student's achievements, progress and developments. On occasion you may also be required to liaise with outside agencies. Additional responsibilities will include playground supervision and reintegration work. The selected applicant must hold a valid certificate for positive restraint training.

Key skills and experience needed:

University degree or A Level qualification.
Experience supporting primary children with SEMH and additional needs
Strong Behaviour management skills.
