An opportunity has arisen for a Bookkeeper & Payroll person to join a Top 20 accountancy practice at its office on the outskirts of Maidenhead. This is a well-established firm with an enviable reputation that is currently enjoying a period of continued growth.

Working in the Audit & Accounts team, the main focus of this role will be to produce management accounts and assist the Partners and Accounts Managers in providing support to those clients requiring more than annual compliance services.

As Bookkeeper & Payroll, responsibilities will include:

* Undertake bookkeeping for clients using QuickBooks, Xero, Sage and Excel

* Completion of VAT and similar business returns

* Running a client payroll

* Undertake review of records maintained by clients

* Dealing with client queries and visiting client sites

* Prepare management accounts for review by more senior staff and discussing results with the client

* Support senior staff and enable them to fulfil their role in advising clients on accounts, taxation and financial matters throughout the year

* Working to budget and achieving targets for chargeable hours

The ideal candidate will have the following skills, experience and attributes:

* Be a proficient bookkeeper, ideally with recent experience of working in or alongside accountancy practices

* Possess a strong knowledge of Quickbooks, Xero, Sage and MS Office products

* Familiarity in working to budget and achieving targets for chargeable hours

* Excellent communication skills

* Works well under time pressure and used to meeting deadlines

* Car driver with full, clean licence is essential as travel to client premises will be required

* Be an enthusiastic team player with a professional and approachable manner
