Johnson Matthey Battery Materials is a leading manufacturer of active cathode materials for use in automotive applications. The business has a number of existing manufacturing facilities and is planning for significant growth as the Battery Electric Vehicle market grows.

Key responsibilities
  • Together with the Sector HR Director set HR priorities for the UK, in line with business strategy, Group HR Strategy and Sector HR priorities, to support the growth of the BM business

  • Supervise and run all HR operations across all BM sites in the UK

  • Provide change management support to senior managers to ensure changes are implemented smoothly way

  • Support senior managers in reviewing, designing and implementing organisation designs in line with the principles of clarity and simplicity to enable staff to deliver organisational objectives

  • Ensure regular talent reviews are conducted, including all aspects of succession and development planning so that BM has clear succession and development plans in place to enable the growth of the business

  • Advise and coach line management in all aspects of employee relations and employment law

  • Ensure regular reviews of reward and benefits are carried out in a timely and professional manner to ensure JM BM rewards its staff in line with JM policies

  • Own and run the local process for grading jobs below middle management

  • Support the development of JM BM culture, and oversee the development and implementation of engagement plans to ensure BM staff remain engaged and empowered as measured by the employee engagement survey

  • Identify learning and development requirements, including functional skills and leadership development gaps, and ensure plans are in place and implemented to grow the talent required to grow our business

  • Identify where HR processes are missing, and supervise the design and implementation of simple processes, using good practice from elsewhere in JM, to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of HR support

  • Build strong relationships with, and coach line managers, to develop their leadership skills

  • Supervise the workforce planning process to ensure JM BM has accurate and reliable planning to facilitate the on-time recruitment of staff as required to enable BM's growth plans

Are you the ideal candidate?

You will :

  • Be CIPD qualified

  • Demonstrate experience in setting HR priorities in line with business and HR strategy with international HR issues

  • Be experienced working within a corporate matrixed environment

  • Be experienced in managing HR professionals

  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate complex issues

  • Be a positive, self-starter with the flexibility to adapt to a rapidly changing environment

  • Demonnstrate an open, collaborative approach, keen to learn from others and implement new processes
