SEN Teaching assistant -Nuneaton - September 2019
Academics ltd is supporting a lovely mainstream school with recruiting a qualified or experienced SEN teaching Assistant in Nuneaton to start in September 2019. If you have experience with supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities in a home, school or community setting, Academics would love to hear from you. Interviews will be taking place immediately.
The job role includes:
- One to one teaching support to those with additional needs
- Working under the direction of the class teacher
- Adhering to safeguarding guidelines and school policies
- Liaising with parents and professionals regarding progress and specialised individual programmes
- May be required to assist with school trips, help with personal care, assist with lunchtime duties and help prepare resources
- Working with students with ASD, ADHD and SEMH
- Strong behaviour management skills
- Working with Children in Infant and Primary School & Secondary school
Requirements
- Patient and respectful of individual needs
- Mentor and support in both small groups and on a one to one basis
- Experience working in EYFS/KS1
- Makaton sign language essential, PECS very desirable.
- Be eligible to work in the UK
- At least 2 years SEN experience (Autism, ADHD, ASD,SEMH)
- Available to work full time asap
- Able to travel around Nuneaton
- Valid enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one
- NVQ Level 2/3 Supporting teaching and Learning
- Very Strong behaviour management skills
Desirable
- Level 3 qualified or equivalent (NVQ Level 2/3 Supporting teaching and Learning)
- Degree educated
- Experience as a special educational needs assistant (Experienced with ASD, EBD, MLD)
- Restraint training such as Team teach is desirable but not essential
