Clerk for the Trustees and Clerk for the Local Governance

(Permanent, £11.19 per hour,)

Two new and exciting Clerk opportunities have arisen within The Quantock Education Trust.  We are seeking a Clerk for the Board of Trustees and also a Clerk for the Local Governors of Haygrove School.  The Quantock Education Trust has a three tier structure of governance consisting of Local Governors, Trustees and Members, all of whom are highly committed and focused on the delivery of the Trust’s vision and values.

Over the course of the academic year, The Clerk for the Board of Trustees is expected to work 306 hours per year and the Clerk for the Local Governors, 198 hours.  Both roles are term-time only and will involve attendance at evening meetings. Meetings take place on weekdays after school.  Outside of these times, candidates will work from home or access the school office.

The appointed candidates will join our supportive teams to ensure the governing body is properly constituted and fully advised on procedural and legislative matters.  Confidentiality and excellent organisational skills are essential for this role.  Tasks include preparation and circulation of papers, attendance at meetings, taking minutes and maintaining accurate records and keeping up to date with educational developments and legislation relating to school governance.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • GCSE English and Maths at grade A*-C (or equivalent)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a positive and flexible attitude
  • Self-motivation and excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to travel to meetings
  • A passion and commitment for supporting young people
  • An ability to work on your own initiative

Preferably candidates will have some experience in school governance, however we are able to offer training and support to anyone with the relevant skills

The Quantock Education Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.  This post is subject to a satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) Enhanced Disclosure Certificate.

The Quantock Education Trust is an equal opportunities employer.
