We are currently recruiting an Assistant HR Advisor based in Preston on a 2-month contract.

37 hours per week

Purpose of the Role:

To provide research and administration support in relation to Employee Relations and Organisational Development issues and provide advice and guidance staff through the HR Helpdesk.


Provide support to staff and line managers within the organisation via a HR Helpdesk and resolving, directing or tasking queries as appropriate.

Provide advice on the interpretation of national and local conditions of service for police officers and police staff.

Undertaking research, including environmental scanning, to support policy and procedure reviews and draw attention to items requiring action.

To maintain, update and ensure access to all reference material, e.g. Home Office Circulars, Force policies and collective agreements.

Assist with preparing advice on whether applications under defined procedures comply with Constabulary policy and criteria for approval.

Conduct formal and informal consultation and negotiation with staff associations and trade unions as requested.

To review and update HR policies and procedures as required.

Support the HR Advisor - Employee Relations and Organisational Development with grievance resolution.

Whilst the post holder will have a primary role within Employee Relations and Organisational Development, there is an expectation that there will be integration between the Assistant Advisors within HR as required to meet organisational needs.

Level 3 CIPD qualified or equivalent or willing to study.

Experience of working within a busy HR administrative role, applying HR policies and procedures to working practices

Experience of producing accurate written information and demonstrate a high level of attention to detail
