A fantastic opportunity for a Technical Support Engineer to join an established and expanding company located in the heart of Birmingham with a strong reputation in guided assembly and electronic testing equipment.
Key roles and responsibilities
The main role of the Technical Support Engineer is to provide both in-house and on-site support for installed equipment at our expanding customer base, and includes the following:
• Pre-install testing & commissioning of Sorion systems / equipment on-site
• Customer support
• Documentation of customer facilities
• Routine system checks
• Fault diagnosis and repairs
• Problem solving and resolution using Sorion software
The role also involves out of hours remote support to our customers on a rota basis.
The candidate will have understanding / experience of two or more of the following
• Automotive Wiring and Vehicle Electrical systems
• PLC Control Systems
• Industrial Electronics
• Windows 7 - 10 PC & Servers
• Basic understanding of programming
• Service / Support provision
• Degree or HND/HNC equivalent in relevant discipline
• Willingness to work at the client site and the occasional need to travel away
• UK Driving licence & own vehicle
• Valid Passport
Preferred skills
• A healthy interest in the automotive industry or industrial electronics
• Good personal presentation and communication
• Strong problem solving & troubleshooting skills
• The ability to learn and progress quickly
• An understanding of PC Hardware and Software
