Trainee Bus Driver

We are looking for Trainee Bus Drivers to join us in Southampton!

What will you be doing?

Going out on the open road as a bus driver, you'll work on your own initiative and take ownership of your bus on its travels, looking after passenger safety and providing a great customer experience. You'll drive different routes, issue tickets and drop people off at their destinations.

How much will you earn?

As a Trainee Bus Driver you will earn between GBP18,855 and GBP22,932 once training has been completed - this will be for the first year and then between GBP20,856 and GBP25,365 after the first year. During your first few weeks with us at First Group you will embark on our training programme to ensure you are the best bus driver you can be.

Your working hours will be between 37 to 45 per week (varied shifts including split shifts).

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who is a good communicator and gets on well with people. You must be patient, a safe driver, reliable and calm under pressure. Happy to work a variety of shifts including early mornings, evenings and weekends, you should also have a full UK driving license with no more than 3 points.

What do we do?

We are the local bus company, operating out of our Empress Road depot which is located within the city boundaries. We are the home of the iconic City Red buses with a network which stretches across Southampton and our surrounding areas, serving our local towns and communities with routes being traced back for a century.

We operate routes for 21 out of 24 hours of the day so shift work is in place, with the driver at the heart of the overall customer experience.
