Absolute is operating as a recruitment business for the supply of temporary opportunities.
Our customer is looking for skilled Build/Assembly Technicians to join them on an ongoing temporary basis as their business enters an extremely busy period, and then to be reviewed thereafter.
This position is focused on building of machinery for the electronics industry, and is very specific in terms of being low volume output but very high specification and value.
Candidates should have experience in following schematic drawings and workshop manuals and will be involved in the entire machine build process from start to finish, performing a variety of electronic or electro-mechanical assembly operations on assemblies or sub- assemblies.
Ideal candidates will come from traditional trade based backgrounds such as having worked as a fitter on machines within a manufacturing environment, or worked on mechanics, hydraulics, and maintenance - or even from the motor maintenance and light engineering trades.
Successful candidates must be physically fit due to the nature of the work involved in building the machinery.
Experience
Applicants should have a mechanical background
Significant experience in a machine minder type role is advantageous
Experience of working with technical drawings and experience of working in a clean room environment is desirable
Qualifications
HNC level educated or equivalent in mechanical/electrical engineering, or have spent at least 12 months working on the assembly of semiconductor equipment.
Candidates will work a basic 39 hour week and regular overtime is also available. Working hours include standard days as well as a two shift pattern, with morning shifts 6am - 2pm Monday to Thursday and 6am - 1pm Friday and afternoon shifts 1.45pm - 9.45pm Monday to Thursday and Friday 12.45pm - 7.45pm.
Basic pay rates of pay start at GBP9.00 per hour ++ (negotiable based on skills and experience) for standard daytime hours 08.00 - 16.00 Monday to Thursday and 08.00 - 15.00 Friday, with a shift premium when shifts are worked.
