Job Title: Composting Process Supervisor (In-Vessel Composting Facility)

Location: Padworth, Reading, Berkshire

Salary: Up to £30,000 per annum + benefits

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

Hours: 42 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Overtime occasional on evenings and weekends

What you'll do:

As the Process Technician, you will operate and maintain the plant in accordance with standard operating procedures and specified standards as determined by the contract KPIs, PAS100 accreditation and legislation.

You will be responsible for testing and inspection of process feedstocks and end products, managing samples to be sent for external analysis, working with the site management to monitor the health of the plant, calculate production targets and measuring the site performance against the Critical Limits and testing and management of the site biofiltration systems to optimise performance and maintain environmental compliance.

The Process supervisor will work safely and effectively to monitor the operation of the process and conditions of the plant, making adjustments of controls and setpoints of the process and ensuring compliance with PAS100, ABPR and the constraints of the PPC permit and planning permissions. You will be a part of the on-call rota to ensure the continued operation of the plant and provide an appropriate response to emergency situations.

Where you'll work

As the Process Supervisor for an In-Vessel Composting facility that converts garden and food waste into compost material, you will be based at the plant in West Berkshire as part of a small dedicated team within a large integrated waste contract.

The experience you will need

You will be able to carry out a variety of process tasks and operational duties related to the role, be IT proficient and comfortable working with and learning with a variety of computer systems to manage the plant. The successful candidate will be confident in accurately recording both quantitative and qualitative data, writing detailed reports and maintaining a professional and accurate compliance management system.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the process industry (Anaerobic digestion, Wastewater treatment, Municipal waste is preferable), or having studied in these fields. You will have excellent communication skills, be comfortable working in a diverse team within a process environment and able to work on own initiative. Knowledge of PLCs, CMMS, PPM,

Condition monitoring techniques and Maths or Science based qualifications are beneficial to the role.
