Onward Homes is one of the largest registered providers of social housing in the North West, with 35,000 properties across the region.

Our in-house repairs team aims to deliver a high quality service that is convenient for our customers and keeps our homes safe and in excellent condition. We complete day to day repairs to customers’ homes and also empty properties to bring them up to the required Onward standard. We also service and repair gas boilers throughout the Lancashire region.

We are looking for an Electrician (2 posts) to join our Repairs team in the Lancashire region.

Reporting to the Electrical Team Leader, you will deliver electrical repairs and testing in line with all group standards and key performance indicators. Ensuring high standards are consistently met together with observing all legal, statutory and regulatory requirements while undertaking repair activities within customer’s homes, empty properties and for other clients as required.

In line with Onward Repairs specification or approved best practice you will assess, coordinate and undertake the most cost effective repair solution ensuring value for money. Organising materials, providing detailed information, effectively communicating with customers other stakeholders and colleagues to deliver a high quality service.

You will ensure adequate store of materials are available and maintained, including van based stock, in order to undertake the required repair and providing excellent customer service whilst ensuring prompt work of the required standard.

Liaising with clients, customers and colleagues regarding access you will ensure safe working practices, and assessment of repairs requirements and progress of repairs and ensuring all work is delivered to a high standard.

You will complete jobs on PDA’s and maintain other records as required including access details, materials used, job progression and follow on information.

Undertaking work activities in line with all health and safety requirements you will demonstrate a sound working knowledge of key legislative health and safety information and safe working practices, assisting the promotion of Health & Safety.

To carry out the repairs you will be in operation of light machinery, plant and powered hand tools in accordance with recognised safety procedures and be responsible for the safe use and daily maintenance of allocated Company vehicles.

A sound knowledge of electrical components and fittings, experience of carrying out electrical servicing and repairs and working in a customer focused service with a proven ability to deliver a quality customer centred repairs service are all essential requirements of this role. You should also have sound knowledge of health and safety regulations, regulation and ACOPS relevant to the post and associated tasks undertaken within it, in line with HASAWA 1974.

You should be qualified to City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 (recognised Electrical trade qualification) and a code of Practice for Electrical Safety or similar electrical qualification for Fixed Electrical Equipment and Portable Appliance Testing regimes. It is also essential that you hold an appropriate CSCS card and are qualified to 2391 (Testing & Inspection) or an equivalent qualification.
