Are you a proven Operations Manager looking to make the next step in your career? Do you have a strong Exhibitions or Conference Operations background with at least 4 years of working within this industry? This is an exciting opportunity to work for a relatively new Conference Organiser. You experience in a fast-paced commercial conference environment. You should have boundless energy, enthusiasm, and a love for the customer-experience, whilst at the same time being meticulously organised, with great attention to detail, and the desire to take complete ownership of the logistics function.

We are looking for an exceptional, seasoned & proven Operations Manager with solid experience of handling Event P&L, supplier sourcing, managed multiple events per year and someone who has lots of experience in budgeting, forecasting and reporting.

The Role:

The Head of Operations reports to the Managing Director and is responsible for directly managing the logistics for 6 large-scale events per year, and performance managing a team of 2-3 logistics managers. The Head of Operations contributes to process development, strategic business reviews and the annual budgeting and forecasting processes.

What you'll be doing:

* Working with speakers, sponsors, exhibitors, delegates, supplier and the in-house team to ensure the flawless delivery of our large-scale events

* Carrying out a comprehensive search for venues, audio-visual suppliers and photographers among others, benchmarking quotes and thoroughly negotiating to ensure maximum value and favourable terms

* Keeping the event tracker up to date with all costs to provide real-time visibility of event expenditure and profitability

* Recruiting, managing and training a high performing logistics team, retaining the top performers and ensuring underperformers are addressed in a timely manner

* Monitoring the performance of a team of logistics managers, ensuring they are effectively briefed, energised, motivated and equipped to deliver on time and within budget

* Carrying out regular training, coaching and appraisals to rapidly build up the logistics team's skill-set and mind-set and ensure their ongoing learning and development

* Providing accurate monthly, quarterly and annual budget and forecast information alongside insightful weekly reports of activity, opportunity and roadblocks

* Managing the registration in-box and taking customer service calls to provide information and assistance in a timely and comprehensive manner

Key Requirements:

* 2:1 Degree or higher in Marketing, Business or Event Management related subjects

* At least 4+ years' work experience in conference/exhibition marketing

* Excellent written and verbal English communication skills

* Strong influencing, persuasion and relationship building skills

* Meticulous organisation, prioritisation and project management skills

* Sound negotiation skill, problem-solving ability, and consistent solution orientation

* Resilience to work consistently well under pressure and to confidently lead others
