Surrey County Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We want to be an inclusive and diverse employer of first choice reflecting the community we serve and particularly welcome applications from all under represented groups.

About the role

This an exciting time to join Surrey County Council's Children with Disabilities Service as we have moved forward with the new structure adopting the Family Safeguarding Model to improve outcomes for children. The new structure facilitates the provision of services to disabled and their families at the appropriate level of professional involvement.

The Children with Disabilities Service aims to safeguard and promote the welfare and development of disabled children whilst supporting children to be cared for by their families at home. We work closely with our colleagues in Education and Health in supporting disabled children and their families.

Social Workers are required in the North East of the County to undertake holistic assessments of children and their families' needs, working with children who are in need or in need of protection and developing and reviewing effective plans. You will also plan with and support children who cannot safely live in their families, to ensure their life chances are maximised and they meet their full potential.

We are looking for experienced Social Workers who have experience and/or are passionate about working with disabled children and their families. You would have the ability to develop and support the practice of other members of the team with a view of promoting good practice. You are required to hold Social Work qualification and be registered with the HCPC.
