The Northampton Roman Catholic Diocesan Trust is a registered charity (234091) and serves the Catholic community in Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and the part of Berkshire which lies to the north of the river Thames (Slough).
We are currently recruiting for a Parish Secretary for the parish of St Edwards in Kettering. This is a new role for the parish in preparation of the retirement of their long serving volunteer Parish Secretary.
The current Parish Priest, Canon John Koenig, is moving to a new parish in September so the new Parish Secretary will be supporting a new Priest in Charge, Fr Gregory Marchwinski.
The role will be for 16 hours per week, ideally to be worked 4 hours a day over four days during the week (for example Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday -10am-2pm). The days and times are to be agreed with the successful candidate. The salary will be GBP8,320.00 per annum (actual).
This is a great opportunity to work in a parish environment for someone with proven administration/secretarial experience. Applicants should have a warm, friendly, approachable manner and be trustworthy and discreet.
As the role is new, it will grow and develop over time. The Secretary will have an important role to play in ensuring the smooth running of the parish office, including working alongside many valued volunteers. As such, good communications skills are vital, as well as the ability to be flexible and adaptable.
Due to the nature of a parish office, the successful candidate will need to be comfortable work alone using their own initiative as well as within the wider team.
We are also looking for someone with good attention to detail, with the ability to cope with changing priorities throughout the day. While there are no complicated systems to navigate, good working knowledge of Word and Excel is essential!
Applications should include a covering letter which outlines your applicable experience and reason for applying for this role.If you applied previously, you can express interest to apply again with just a covering letter or a fresh application.
