The successful candidate will be responsible for construction of the salad and fruit boxes on a fast paced production line (the working temperature varies between 2-8 degrees Celsius)'
Pay rate; GBP7.83 per hour
Immediate start available, experience is not essential as all tasks can be taught and all training will be provided.
Working in a clean room environment and handling items of food such as salad and fruit items. The working area varies between 2 - 8 degrees Celsius.
The main function of the role is to construct salad and fruit boxes on a production line. Each individual is responsible for placing each food item into a container along a production line. The automated systems will then seal the food box.
This is a fast paced role that requires accuracy and speed. It is the gap operative's responsibility to ensure the correct amount of food stuff is placed into each box. Certain items will need to be weighed, others are added in quantity.
Nut allergies need to be highlighted at application stage to ensure workers health and wellbeing Product quality checks are the responsibility of the gap operative. Substandard products are not to be used and reported to a team leader. Finished product is then checked for a final time in Low Care and palletised according to customer requirements. Packing finished packs into boxed or crates and checking the quality of the packs Some food items are prepared by hand. This process involves manual cutting of food items with various types of knives. Safety glove provided to minimise the risk of cuts. This is also a fast paced process however accuracy is key for this position. Processes are laid out for each food item to detail the desired result.
Wellington boots, long overcoat with hood, gloves, hair nets and beard snoods MUST be worn at all times when in the production areas. Hand washing facilities are provided and must be used multiple times per shift as instructed. Be responsible for your health and safety and of others, following all safety procedures. A Clean as you go policy is enforced. This includes sweeping your work area and ensuring all floors on your line are free of any trip or slip hazards. Ensure waste is correctly handled and disposed of in the correct way. Good behaviour and team work are expected at all times. Ensure you follow all procedures and raise concerns with line leader promptly.
You will be required to be on your line, ready to start work at your shift starting time. I.e. you will need to come in, change, clock in and get to the line early. Break times must be strictly adhered to. You supervisor will inform you of when breaks are to be taken depending on production levels. Ensure all tasks are performed accurately, efficiently and that time deadlines are met. Achieve and maintain pre-set performance targets whilst maintaining accuracy and never compromising Health & Safety standards. Take individual responsibility for the maintenance of housekeeping standards in the work area.
