This life sciences company is combating the spread of antimicrobial resistance by developing novel antimicrobial therapeutics for human pathologies. They are seeking a junior scientist to join them in this endeavour as a part of their microbiology team.

- Carry out microbiological assays both independently and under supervision from senior staff members.
- Contribute towards the development of novel microbiological screens and assays.
- Maintain appropriate records including a lab notebook.
- Write technical reports including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as needed.
- Monitor the suitability of assay components and process parameters to ensure that quality is maintained at all times.
- Analyse and present data.

Essential Requirements:
- A Microbiology degree or equivalent qualification within the life sciences or pharmaceutical industry.
- Mastery of a variety of methods and techniques for advanced microbiology, including working with Hazard Group 2 microorganisms and performing MIC testing according to national and international standards.
- Experience in AMR research.
- Computer literacy (familiarity with Microsoft Office as a minimum).
- Experience with assay development and implementation.
- Effective team member with the ability to collaborate.

Desirable Requirements:
- 1-2 years' experiencein vitro clinical microbiology.
- Excellent organisation, time management and problem solving skills.
- Experience in planning and executing method optimisation.
- Experience of working in a regulated environment.
- Experience of working with biofilms.
