Key Result Areas:
* To accurately process all receipts/settlements/payments to the appropriate ledger, having agreed the items with the relevant third party. This includes brokers, co-insurers, reinsurers and other third parties, such as loss adjusters etc.
* To correctly allocate all receipts/payments against the respective technical entries on the ledgers, and to be able to reconcile any balance due to/from the third party to the third party statements.
* To promptly and proactively investigate any settlement or technical queries on the ledgers, liaising with the underwriters, technicians and claims teams as appropriate to resolve the queries.
* To issue accurate and timely statements of account to all third parties, as required in order to facilitate prompt settlement of balances.
* To process accurate technical entries/journals onto the appropriate ledgers, in order to ensure up-to-date accounts are maintained. This will include various inter-company accounts as well as those of third parties.
* To operate best practice credit control procedures in order to ensure Terms of Trade are met.
* To produce various management reports and analyses of the ledger balances, cash etc. as requested by the finance & operations director or others in the business.
* To proactively participate in projects or other initiatives designed to improve the effectiveness or efficiency of the finance department.
* To undertake any other tasks as requested by the Credit Control Team Leader, in order that the team achieve its objectives.
Specific Job Related Skills & Competencies:
* Good understanding of insurance and the terminologies used, across all lines of business.
* Experience in handling Global Programmes.
* Good technical understanding about underwriting policy construction; able to read underwriting files and understand what data needs to be recorded
* Good interpersonal skills - comfortable with phone & face to face discussions with underwriters, brokers & other technical staff
* Experience of working with credit control teams & understanding their requirements, a definite advantage
* Able to organise own workload effectively to meet service standards
* Deadline focused; able to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines
* Competent user of Excel & Word
* Good systems knowledge, experience of using various company bespoke systems to interrogate data
