The Department

Our HR team is firmly embedded within the business and offers real expertise in all people related issues. Our success comes from really understanding our business and people. We have developed fantastic relationships with our board, partners, managers and employees which supports us in providing first class and proactive support to an ever changing business.

Our team is spread across four locations; Newcastle, Bristol, Plymouth and Southampton. It is made up of three core teams; Recruitment, Generalist HR and Learning and Development.

The Role

This will involve managing an in-house payroll function for approximately 1,000 employees with the help of the payroll team. There are a number of key relationships to build and develop, including our employees, HMRC and our payroll provider (Select Access Pay). You'll also be providing monthly reports to our finance team and various benefits providers and work with the wider HR team to streamline and simplify the payroll administration process.

This role sits within a team made up of HR generalists, project specialists (incorporating internal communications), payroll, analysts and a secretarial services team. You will work with the team across all locations to respond to the needs of the business, and queries from managers and employees.

The Person

You'll need excellent IT and reporting skills, ideally with experience of working with Access Select Pay. The ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues and external providers is essential, along with being a confident communicator and natural problem solver. It goes without saying that you'll be able to work to deadlines but also have a flexible approach to your work when priorities change.
