Test Development Engineer - RF, Digital, Cellular, Wireless Systems
Our client is a highly successful global company, they are looking for a Test Development Engineer, in this role you will develop automated production test equipment for telecom products, DAS systems and mobile phone repeater systems. Electronics design of jigs and adaptors. Programming of test instruments. Build and qualify prototype systems. Document design. Commissioning of systems and training of team members.
The UK Engineering team focuses mainly on patented DAS and digital repeater solutions.
The engineering team provides engineering support to the outsourced production lines.
Technology includes: RF, digital, software and mechanical design and development, cellular and public safety technologies, wireless system engineering, providing cellular and public safety standards and certification processes.
As Test Development Engineer your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
* Degree in electronics design or equivalent experience and knowledge
* 5-10 years of experience of RF test equipment design.
* Experience of RF applications and digital circuits (microprocessors e.g. PIC, one board computers)
* Experience of RF test instruments and auxiliary equipment
* Experience of operating systems Windows, Linux
* Working practise of LabVIEW/TestStand/LabWindows/CVI
* Programming skills, C#, C++, python, SQL. Preferred but not essential LabVIEW, Java,
* Experience of protocol and bus standards. RS232, RS485, SPI, UART, Ethernet (LAN IP)
* Experience of databases My SQL, MS SQL Server etc.
* Experience of SVN Subversion repositories and file replication.
* Knowledge of TFTP servers
* Performance verification of test systems (SW component testing, Measurement system analysis, Gauge R&R, etc.)
* Statistical tools for verification of production variations (Six sigma approach preferred)
As Test Development Engineer your main responsibilities will involve:
Transfer product specifications to test specifications identify test requirements and test methods for the company's products.
* RF tests for amplifier performance for W-CDMA and LTE as per radio standards for mobile communication. (E.g. ETSI, CSA, RED).
* RF test for filters and passive components PIM, S-Parameters, Isolation, etc.
* Power supply and Power distribution
* Communication protocols for products SPI, RS232, RS485, UART, Ethernet (IP), USB.
Specify, design and build test equipment from requirements to secure robust production test complying with health and safety and radio directives.
* RF path using RF components and instruments
* Communication (data exchange with DUT, parameter setup in DUT)
* Mains voltage applications
* Documentation of design and user instructions
* Service and maintenance plans
Design jigs and fixtures to support the DUT during the test cycle.
* Hardware
* Electronics
* Embedded software on one board computers
Program test procedures as per specifications for test automation
* Add and modify SW drivers for the instruments SCPI commands over mainly GPIB
* Write embedded SQL for transfer of data to backend databases.
* Adding and changing functionality to the Test executive software in C#, C++, Ansi C
* Working practise of LabVIEW/TestStand/LabWindows/CVI is an advantage
Find best practice and concepts to minimise cost and maximise utilization of test equipment
commission systems and train personnel at sub-contractors and manufacturing plants mainly around Europe.
Maintain and update production test systems already commissioned.
Identify new equipment and tools to improve test systems and methods
