Kidney Research UK is a charity striving to cure kidney disease. A silent killer, it blights the lives of more than two million patients, with a further million undiagnosed. We are the largest charitable funder supporting renal research in the UK today. For decades the research we enable has been saving lives, but there is so much more to do.

Position: Executive Director: Research, Innovation and Policy
Location: Nene Hall, Peterborough
Job type: Full Time, Permanent
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: Salary commensurate with experience

About the role:

Research is at the heart of all we do and we're now looking for an exceptional individual to provide strategic leadership for the organisation's research activities. As the Executive Director of Research, Innovation and Policy, you will play a key role in developing and overseeing the delivery of our research strategy. You will also contribute to the overall leadership and transformational development of the charity as part of the Executive team working closely with the Chief Executive and board of trustees.

The charity is in a period of significant change as we transform our approach to research and to improving outcomes for people living with, affected by and at risk of kidney disease. This new role has been created as part of the charity's investment in the future, to strengthen our ability to deliver a transformation built on excellent heritage and previous success.

About you:

We need someone who has substantial leadership and management experience within a health research setting, who can bring a collaborative approach and agile attitude to the role.

The Executive Director will build on existing and establish new external relationships to bring together those who can help deliver greater improvements and patient outcomes. The successful applicant must be an outstanding communicator, influencer and collaborator able to bring people together across the organisation, the sector and beyond to drive progress and make change happen.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will be a strategic and innovative thinker with a passion for the cause, and the commitment to lead and develop effective teams.
