HMRC are the UK's tax authority, and one of the most technologically advanced in the world. We are responsible for generating all government revenue which then funds public services such as the NHS, roads, policing, firefighting, schools, parks, defence and many more.

We are looking for a senior user researcher to contribute to our ongoing digital transformation. User research is crucial in making sure that our web services are accessible and simple to use for millions of citizens with a diverse range of needs. There are currently over 50 projects that need your help, including EU Exit, personal tax and business tax services.
As a senior user researcher you will be:

- Leading on the planning, design and execution of a range of user research activities to support the development and continuous improvement of government services.
- Identifying the appropriate research method depending on the phase of the service life cycle, such as ethnographic research methods, usability testing, remote testing, survey design and A/B tests.
- Working closely with a multidisciplinary agile team including developers, designers and testers
- Leading colleagues to analyse research data and synthesise clear and actionable findings
- Communicating user research findings to help the team and wider organisation develop a deep understanding of users and their needs
- Contributing to the wider user research community, including presenting at meetups and writing blog posts.
- Mentoring and managing more junior user researchers.

We are looking for experienced user researchers, educated to postgraduate level in related subject such as Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology or HCDE.
