Main purpose of role:

Accountable for

1. Providing expert knowledge, guidance and help in the continued support, running and development of the Cognos platform

2. Imparting and sharing knowledge and best practice with the R,P&A team and

3. Supporting in the development and successful implementation of firm-wide reporting and analysis

Key relationships:

?? Internal - Senior Reporting, Planning & Analysis Manager, Commercial Directors (CDs), Reporting, Planning & Analysis team, System Accountant, Finance

?? External - Suppliers for financial planning, budgeting and reporting systems and platforms, as well as business reporting platforms

Key responsibilities:

Team Management & Culture

?? Provide expert knowledge and advice to the Reporting, Planning & Analysis team, striving to deliver outstanding results and service

?? Share and impart knowledge to others within the R,P&A team so as to develop the team's overall skillset and knowledge

?? Support and embed a culture of high performance and continuous improvement

Cognos Financial, Planning & Analysis

Working with the Senior Reporting, Planning & Analysis Manager, the R,P&A team and other key stakeholders:

?? Carry out an audit and then develop a plan to develop and run the system / platform in line with industry best practice and ensuring stability, as well as exploiting the future capabilities of the platform balanced with gaining best value

?? Help deliver, maintain and continually improve the Cognos system looking at all facets including budgeting, forecasting, month-end process (and reporting), KPI reporting, as well as other financial modelling / reporting which may include transactional level analysis

?? Help deliver, maintain and continually improve the analytical tools to support finance and business-wide requirements

?? Support and help operate the key finance and firm processes such as budget, forecasting and month-end

?? Ensure that this covers all offices globally for the firm

Reporting & Analysis

Support in the development and successful implementation of firm-wide reporting and analysis that is straightforward, insightful, supports decision making and drives performance with 4 key areas in mind:

?? Data - Establish, agree, document, control and maintain the structures, definitions, standards and governance of our financial and non-financial data firm wide

?? Requirements - Understand, define and agree reporting and analysis requirements with key stakeholders across the firm

?? Delivery incl. systems - Build a plan and then deliver reporting changes across the firm including any system changes or implementations

?? Governance - Establish and maintain a governance framework and process agreed with the business, to agree and manage any changes to definitions, reports, standards and delivery

Continuous Improvement

?? Regularly review and look for ways to improve the approach and processes to improve the service and insight provided to the firm

Qualifications

Key Skills and Experience:

Essential skills and experience

?? Highly developed analytical and financial modelling skills

?? Strong project management and planning skills

?? Strong communication, with the ability to present complex financial data and concepts in a clear and concise way to non-finance professionals

?? Expert knowledge of IBM Cognos end-to-end

Desired Requirements

?? ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified

?? Significant exposure to legal sector and professional services firms

?? Strong problem solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast paced and challenging environment
