Technical Assistant (Drama & Performing Arts)

Full time; Term Time only

Salary: Grade 4 – £18,780 – £20,765 fte (dependent on experience)

We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic Technical Assistant to join a talented and collaborative Performing Arts team in our successful and inclusive sixth form college. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to our students’ experience at Bilborough and their life chances by ensuring they are well supported and guided in lessons to achieve their full potential throughout their journey at college.

The appointed person will be expected to be involved in preparing and organising material for performance, documenting classroom activities and the devising process as well as controlling technical aspects such as sound or lighting in performance. Knowledge of recording devices such as still or moving image cameras and basic editing skills is beneficial but not essential as the emphasis will be on supporting examinations across the three courses, which can be a highly pressured time of year.

If you have a positive, proactive approach, enjoy working with and challenging young people to achieve their full potential and are able to work collaboratively as part of a busy team we would love to hear from you. You will require some experience within the performing arts sector along with experience of working with young people, backed by real passion for helping students get ahead. In particular, you will be deeply committed to inclusion and innovation, and will be ready to go the extra mile to ensure a smooth running of a busy department.

We are a Sixth Form College with a diverse student community. We particularly welcome applications from black and minority ethnic candidates as they are under-represented within our teaching staff.

The College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students in our care and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All staff appointments are subject to pre-employment screening including DBS clearance. We are an equal opportunities employer.
