Job Description

Experienced Strategy/Planning Director who will lead the global marketing on hair/ Unilever and automotive brands, as well as new business strategy. This is a global role, so a candidate with experience in markets outside the UK is required.

Key responsibilities

  • Leading the strategic direction of the brands, developing end to end brand strategy.
  • Leading the strategic development of communications for the brands and be instrumental in helping to shape the creative development of the work.
  • Leading research, both qualitative and quantitative to both develop and test new communications approaches.
  • Be a partner to the client business beyond the communications – as required.
  • Be a leader in the brand teams helping to develop talent and build teams.
  • Leadership and management of junior team members

Required Skills and Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in Strategy/Planning roles, including previous experience working at Planning Director level, within a large, leading creative advertising agency.
  • Experience working on global, haircare/personal care brands (with experience working on Unilever brands as highly desirable)
  • Experience working on successful pitches, regional or global
  • Experience of campaign development in another market, other than the UK
  • Experience of leadership and management of junior team members
  • Demonstrable success in global business development and new business
  • Have a strong strategic understanding, demonstrated by having attended relevant training courses, e.g. with the IPA
  • Experience of leadership in strategic thinking from past roles, with experience leading end-to-end brand strategy at a full-service creative agency
  • Experience directing qualitative and quantitative research is essential
  • Confident, with the gravitas and sensitivity to lead effectively
  • Excellent at building relationships
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach, and ability to resolve issues quickly.
