Randstad Inhouse Services are pleased to be working in Partnership with Gillette and Procter and Gamble to recruit for an experienced Laboratory Technician to work within the quality assurance department of their production facility in Reading, Berkshire RG2 0QE.

Between GBP13.03 and GBP15.90 PER HOUR dependent upon the shift worked.
First 4 weeks = Monday to Friday 08:00AM to 16:00PM for training.
After the first 4 weeks = two 12 HOUR rotating day and night shifts. Responsibilities

Supporting with the testing and analysis of raw material and finished product to ensure compliance and standards are met throughout.
Carrying out chemical analyses of mix batches to ensure the efficient running of the mix room.
Carrying out chemical analysis on finished products as required.
Carrying out analysis of process water and Ozonised water samples, to ensure specification limits.
Controlling laboratory standards and completion of Odour Panel analysis.
Use of laboratory equipment - control and maintenance of equipment.
Providing analytical support.
Verifying results from a range of analyses which are either in or out of specification and take the appropriate action.
Good housekeeping.
Accurate record keeping and filing.
The correct and accurate use of agreed analytical procedures; maintenance and calibration of lab equipment.
Handling of out-of- specification results to agreed procedures.
Carrying out routine standardisation or reagents
Organising and transporting samples for storage in the product/mix library.
Carrying out all procedures as determined by the agreed company standards
Carrying out all operations to the required company safety regulations;
Participating in risk assessments and safety auditing as required; maintain and pay due attention to the requirements of the COSHH system.
Managing any projects relating to departmental objectives.
Assisting in other areas of the Quality department including Microbiology Lab as directed by the Chemistry Team leader.
Dealing with outside contractors/suppliers to obtain required information and products, and to answer relevant queries.Requirements

We are looking for candidates that have the following:

A scientific background and preferably experience within a lab environment. It would also be beneficial to have some experience within a quality control position.
You will be flexible in your approach to work as you will be on a shift pattern and expected to work days and nights.
You will be qualified to HND level or equivalent in a Science subject or have a relevant experience. This role is for a period of 3 to 6 months minimum.
