Job Title: Handyperson – South West Regional Organised Crime Unit
Location: Based in the vicinity of J29 of M5 - with the expectation of travel across the region.
Salary Scale: Scale 2 £17,261 - £18,078 per annum pro rata
Hours per week: 1 x 22.20 hours per week

Description:
We are looking for a skilled person to undertake routine maintenance of police buildings, vehicles and be on hand to escort contractors on site as and when required. The role includes the upkeep of police premises to include minor redecoration, plumbing and carpentry, landscaping maintenance as well as the collection and delivery of supplies and health and safety responsibilities, such as the testing of emergency generators and fire alarms. Good knowledge of basic building and maintenance duties is essential and experience of general DIY tasks, maintenance and equipment testing would be beneficial.
In addition to the above management of fleet for the unit is an essential element of this role, whereby regular vehicle checks and valets need to be conducted along with booking vehicles in for annual MOT’s and services with the local Transport Services Department. As a result this role will be required to drive police vehicles conveying passengers and goods as appropriate, consequently anyone looking to apply must possess a full current driving licence. The successful candidate will be required to travel around the region and must be prepared to do so

The SW ROCU was established in September 2010 to disrupt serious and organised crime across the South West of England. It is made up of the five forces in the region – Avon and Somerset, Devon and Cornwall, Dorset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire – to work across the county borders. Please note you will also be required to undergo vetting before taking up the post - Police Management Vetting (MV) and National Security Vetting - Security Clearance (Enhanced) Level and must hold a full, current driving licence.
