Manufacturing Engineering Lead - Aerospace and Defence
Our client is a highly successful global aerospace company, they are looking for a Manufacturing Lead to ensure that the Manufacturing Production Engineering team provide products and services that meet or exceed the required performance levels for quality, cost and delivery and are aligned with the business needs. You will be leading and motivating team of seven Manufacturing/Production Engineers
As a Manufacturing Engineering Lead your key skills and qualifications will include:
5 years manufacturing experience including manufacturing processes and techniques
Good knowledge of the aerospace and defence industry
Experienced in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement techniques
Six Sigma Greenbelt or above
Minimum of HNC in Manufacturing or Production Engineering
Formal Apprenticeship in Engineering or Manufacturing
New Product Development, NPI
Proven team leadership/supervisory experience
Strong communication and influencing skills
Good problem-solving skills
Previous machining experience or understanding of machining principles
Have previous experience with PFMEA, DFMA, Lean Methodology
Familiar with heat treatments, NDT
Experience managing engineering change
Able to produce manufacturing plans, understand MRLs (Manufacturing Readiness Levels)
Have experience of MRP Systems (BoMs, routings, material masters etc)
Mechanical Engineering
Configuration control, document management
Experience working with supply chain
Supplier capability analysis
Management of SHE, risk assessments, COSHH, workplace safety
As a Manufacturing Engineering Lead your key responsibilities will include:
Develops robust, cost efficient and safe manufacturing processes.
Supports Design for Manufacturing and Value Engineering initiatives and is able to apply lean manufacturing techniques/continuous improvements as a means to eliminate waste and deliver products to customer's expectations.
Investigates new processes and methodologies to provide competitive advantages for the business within the Supply Chain and potential future suppliers.
Utilises and develops visual management tools to track performance and monitor the leading indicators (KPI's) that impact quality, cost and delivery.
Supports with the completion of PFMEA's and implementation of associated risk reduction activities in line with LCM requirements.
Supports with the manufacturing recurring and non-recurring costs at bid stage, seeks to achieve the target cost reductions through product development and process improvement.
To provide Manufacturing Engineering support to suppliers.
Actively supports with the development needs of the team to ensure team capability and flexibility meet the business needs.
Co-operate with management to meet the employer's legal duties and take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions
