We are currently looking for a Grounds Person to join our friendly team, starting immediately.

What will I be doing?

As a Grounds Person, you will help to maintain our school grounds to a high standard. The grounds date back to the 1800s and now include numerous sports facilities as well as gardens.

You will be part of the team ensuring that the grounds have the maximum impact upon pupils, guests and visitors to the school.

Your role will include:

- Cutting grass using ride-on and pedestrian machines
- Maintaining plant borders
- Assisting with tree maintenance
- Supporting the set-up of trade show and marquee event stands
- Sports pitch maintenance, including astro turfs

What do I need to be considered?

To join us as our Grounds Person, you will need:

- The ability to operate tractors, mowers, strimmers and leaf blowers and use gardening tools
- An understanding of statutory health and safety requirements
- The ability to follow instructions and safe systems of work
- Good communication skills

Any of the following qualifications or training would be beneficial: City & Guilds Level 2 in a Grounds related subject, time served apprenticeship, NPTC in chainsaw maintenance, PA6, manual handling, working at height, asbestos awareness, noise awareness, fire safety or COSHH.

Experience of working in an education environment, such as a school, college or university, would also be an advantage, as would experience of preparing risk assessments and a basic level of IT literacy. A full driving licence would be equally favourable.

Other organisations may call this role Grounds Person, Gardener, Caretaker, Maintenance Technician, Maintenance Assistant, Grounds Assistant, Grounds Operative or Grounds Maintenance Operative.

The working hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 - 16:30. During term time, you'll also be required to work Saturdays (every on in three), 8:00 - 12:00.
