Established for over twenty years with a turnover of GBP110m per annum this main contractor operate nationally delivering new build and refurbishment projects for a large portfolio of blue chip clients across the commercial, industrial, retail, leisure and residential sectors. With the companies expertise and experience they have the ability to deliver virtually any scheme from land acquisition and design consultancy, through the construction phase, to build completion.

Site Engineer/Package Manager

The project is a GBP33.5m based in Gillingham, Kent. Having just commenced on-site and consists of one seven storey and one eight story block with combined 193 units for PRS. The two buildings will include six retails units (shell & core) and outside communal areas. The project is programmed to complete in February 2021 and the company are currently in the progress of negotiating for additional land acquisition nearby for further development.

The Site Engineer/Package Manager will set out and take full responsibility for the structure / external envelope and groundworks on the project.

Site Engineer Package Manager role will include the following duties:

* Attending pre-start meetings to understand and take over the running of the Site / Package Management aspects of a Project.

* Working with the Project Team to ensure that they have checked all levels, and position of buildings ensuring the most economical and best practices are being adopted on site at all times.

* Responsibility for ensuring that all works are carried out to the drawings provided. Liaising closely with the professional team to ensure best practices are adopted, with all changes being agreed and drawings revised accordingly.

* Responsible for the supervision of all site labour and sub-contractors.

* Monitoring sub-contract progress on site, ensuring programmes are monitored at all times.

* Ensuring works are completed to a high standard and inspected prior to payment being made.

* Monitoring programme ensuring all delays are recorded.

* Ensuring that all variations are recorded, keeping accurate records of additional work carried out and liaising closely with your surveyor.

* Attending client and sub-contract meetings.

* Checking quality on site at all times.

* Ensuring that all information is kept for the as-built file and making sure the as-built files are completed for the contract, including all statutory certificates from building control and the fire officer.

Health, Safety & Environmental responsibilities will include:

* Ensuring that you have all relevant documentation on site before your projects proceed.

* Keeping the health and safety manager/s informed on all changes which they need to be aware of.

* Ensuring that all operatives on site are working safely and within the guidelines set out by the HSE and their Health, Safety & Environmental Management Systems.

* Ensuring that you do not proceed with works unless you have a risk assessment/method statement for all works, making sure that any recommendations made by our health and safety manager are implemented in the correct time.

* Ensuring that all operatives on site are inducted prior to starting work.

* Promote a positive Health, Safety & Environmental culture in the business and demonstrate visible leadership including showing personal involvement and setting a good personal example at all times.

* Liaise on behalf of the business with the Health and Safety Executive, Local Authorities, Fire Authorities, Environment Agency, external auditors and any other appropriate safety and environmental organisations / representations.

* Advice and assistance with the preparation, review and update of contract specific Health, Safety & Environmental Plans (e.g. Contract Management Plan).

You will;

* HNC/Degree in construction highly beneficial

* First Aid, SMSTS and CSCS

* Relevant new build experience on projects of GBP5m plus

* Able to set out

* Have excellent communication and polished client facing

* IT literate

* Stable permanent work history
