Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Others may be assigned.

1. 1.To source, write and edit the best digital news and insight in the UK convenience market that attracts a growing audience.
2. 2.To work with the editorial team to deliver the editorial content strategy and ensure content is joined up.
3. 3.To upload and edit content that has appeared in print, adapting it for a digital audience.
4. 4.To draft and shape new content, ensuring relevance to audience and appropriate tone.
5. 5.To ensure all content is in line with the style guide, editorial guidelines, brand guidelines and the content strategy.
6. 6.To identify and prepare images and other multimedia content for use online, while maintaining the image library.
7. 7.To ensure content is optimised for search engines and online use. Continually monitor engagement levels and make improvements that drive engagement.
8. 8.To work with the editor of Better Wholesaling to ensure content from the print title and additional news stories are sub-edited and uploaded (url removed)
9. 9.To compile and edit e-newsletters and assist in copywriting for digital communications.
10. 10.To ensure all material is published within the law, taking legal advice where necessary and keeping the editor in chief aware of key issues.
11. 11.To collaborate with all departments within the business.
12. 12.To be aware of market trends and competitor activity and create plans for how to take advantage of opportunities and combat threats.
13. 13.To support the digital team in the promotion of online content, including staying on top of key search terms that drive content impressions analysing content traffic.
14. 14.To identify workflow improvements.
15. 15.To live the companys values.
16. 16.Reasonable after hours mingling with customers, readers and industry participants is expected.

Person Specification

1. 1.You will have experience of creating, editing and producing online content for digital platforms, with strong knowledge of WordPress, SEO and social engagement.
2. 2.You will have great attention to detail, with first-class proofreading, editing and writing skills while maintaining house style. 1. 3. 3.You will be creative, with a thirst for innovation and for getting ahead of the competition, demonstrated across digital platforms and supported by research and planning skills.

4. 4.You will be results-driven, with an understanding of how to generate digital engagement and/or grow digital sales, demonstrated by examples of creating interaction with users. 1. 5. 5.You will be proactive, well-organised and flexible, with a track record of delivering quality results to tight deadlines.
2. 6. 6.You will have excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively both internally and externally.


1. 1.You will have a full tool-kit of editor skills, including up-to-date legal knowledge, and demonstrated by examples of problem solving and of seizing opportunities.
2. 2.You will have an eye for design and web development, with good knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign and HTML.
3. 3.You will have excellent knowledge of, and contacts within, the UK convenience market.
