Our client, a premium supplier of fresh fish and products to all the major UK retailers and to food service customers in the UK, has 500 employees based in Chessington, Surrey and in Grimsby, is looking for a Maintenance Manager who will need to be flexible and occasionally work out of hours.
Reporting to the Site Engineering Manager you will oversee a department of x 12 Shift Engineers, 2 x Day Engineers on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern.
Hours of work: Monday to Friday, 7.30am - 5.30pm

Purpose of Role:
The successful candidate will lead the Engineering Maintenance Team supporting the production facilities, using the Preventive Planned Maintenance program - ensuring the plant and machinery are maintained to their highest level, and full compliance with Health and safety requirements, ultimately to ensure all customer expecatations are met.
* To be committed to the manufacture of safe and legal food, and maintain an environment that supports this process
* Prioritising and working to ensure the most effective use of engineering resources ensuring compliance of Health & Safety and food safety legislation.
* Management of departmental legal compliance including legionellosis, pressure systems and statutory compliance.
* To implement the maintenance strategy that will ensure the Engineering function is effective, low cost, well-motivated and flexible.
* Develop and manage the Planned Preventative Maintenance schedule and procedures.
* Control and manage engineering stores and critical spares ensuring correct stock levels.
* Provide weekly and monthly labour plans ensuring full engineering cover.
* Ensure a high performance culture which encourages innovation and continuous improvement in a controlled environment.
* Supervision, motivation and maximise utilisation of all engineering skilled personnel.
* Identify replacement of plant, processes and systems as required by business objectives and plant condition.
* Ensure an environment and culture of safe working practices are understood and maintained within the engineering maintenance function.
* Monitor progress of plant performance and implement downtime reduction activities.
* Develop & track engineering maintenance KPI's and issue action plans to attain targets.
* Oversees contractor control and site project work where applicable.
* Responsible for the maintenance budget as defined by the Site Engineering Manager
Time is split approximately 60% supporting the Engineering Team and 40% management of system paperwork.
Qualifications and experience
Apprentice trained engineer, HND or Degree qualified
Electrical and Mechanical Engineering experienc
Demonstrable people management experience.
Proven maintenance system experience.
* Demonstrate legal compliance & project management experience.

* Health & Safety - Statutory and mandatory measure and adherence.
* Cost - Management of agreed maintenance budget and forecast of spend.
* Service - Achieving compliance PPM schedules and assets are maintained to perform to business expectations
* People - Ensuring skill levels are maintained for engineering personnel and a culture continuous improvement is embedded. Consistent communication with engineering and production teams.
* Quality - Provide a reliable and effective service to manufacturing. GMP standards are maintained, constantly developed.
