Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver and own US Nymex gas analysis as part of a global gas team based from London. This will specifically include developing the US gas S&D balances
  • Develop deep understanding of the modeling approaches across the US gas business and cultivate best practices with the US team(s)
  • Pursue new sources of data and data processing techniques
  • Supply: Develop basin specific gas production models and forecasts based on drilling and completion data. Calibrate these views with producer guidance and infrastructure constraints
  • Demand: Develop stack based demand models
  • Maintain and improve existing trading strategies and assist in the development and deployment of new trading strategies.
  • Apply advanced quantitative techniques to analyze large scale data and alternative data sources using analysis packages and in-house models
  • Develop core models and programming code, which lead directly to trading decisions
  • Assist in the research and development of trading framework and strategies

Adaptability and intellectual curiosity:

  • Learn and adapt to new supply/demand drivers when needed
  • Dig deep into root causes of discrepancies between predicted and actual prices—avoid “plugs”
  • Bring high intelligence, curiosity and quantitative acumen to the job

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience either with US oil / gas supply & demand data is essential
  • Experience in fundamental analysis of the gas basis market, with the ability to develop fundamental models and apply this analysis into trading strategies / ideas is ideal
  • Prior experience in a related role within a hedge fund, investment bank or trading house
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills coupled with strong commercial acumen
  • Python coding / programming is an essential skill-set for this role
  • Knowledge of micro and macro oil / gas balances is essential
  • Degree level of education
  • Ideally holds an MBA / CFA equivalent based degree

  • Forge strong relationships with the PM’s / Traders, be viewed as a trusted partner providing a valued
  • mentoring/coaching function
  • Comfortable both giving and receiving constructive criticism
  • Able to communicate complicated ideas in clear and concise terms
