Blackfriars, Central London

Are you innovative and excited about the future potential of entrepreneurship, innovative technologies and approaches to societal impact? Do you have experience in the design and delivery of programmes? If so, Nesta is looking for an Interim Assistant Programme Manager to support the development and delivery of challenge prizes that stimulate radical thinkers to develop new solutions to improve people's lives.

About Nesta and Nesta Challenges

Nesta is an innovation foundation. For us, innovation means turning bold ideas into reality and changing lives for the better. We use our expertise, skills and funding in areas where there are big challenges facing society. Nesta is based in the UK and supported by a financial endowment. We work with partners around the globe to bring bold ideas to life to change the world for good.

Our Challenges team is at the forefront of identifying and defining problems where new ideas, technologies and approaches can be encouraged to radically improve outcomes and then developing and managing challenge prizes that optimise the likelihood of success. Challenge prizes are competitions which reward whoever can first, or most effectively, meet a defined challenge and we have launched prizes that include improving outcomes for Nepalese farmers, improving access to energy for refugees and the GBP10m Longitude Prize for antimicrobial resistance.

About this exciting opportunity

Working collaboratively with other team members, you will focus on developing engaging and interactive programme content aimed at engaging young people in developing tech for social good and grasping the basics of entrepreneurship. Enabling smooth day-to-day programme execution will include the monitoring of milestones, evaluation and finance to keep track of project budgets and deadlines and flagging action points where appropriate. You will also:

  • Support the Programme Manager in assessing and judging prize entries and utilise the impact and monitoring framework to demonstrate the impact of prizes, collecting and analyzing relevant data
  • Work with partners and clients to identify the focus of prizes, supporting their design and conducting research with stakeholders and experts when necessary
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective delivery of the prizes
  • Support the delivery of communications strategies, contributing to marketing materials and developing content for web and social media

What we are looking for

Creative and genuinely interested in new ideas and innovation, you've got proven programme management skills, the ability to manage budgets and finance and good attention to detail. You're an outstanding communicator able to work effectively with a wide range of people and you're capable of organising major events and managing social media channels. Excellent organisational, prioritisation and time management skills will also be vital to success in this role.

Nesta is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion - we welcome and encourage applications from everyone.
