An excellent opportunity has now arisen for an experienced Specification Compliance Technologist to join our client at their site in Caerphilly. 

The purpose of this role is to co-ordinate and manage the site technical systems and the retailer web-based systems, to ensure that stored information relating to finished products and ingredients is current and provides the correct food safety, quality and legal information.

Reporting to the Technical Compliance Manager, you will ensure products are manufactured to standards that meet all agreed internal or external requirements/specifications and will collate the key performance data and generate the reports internally. 

In addition, you will also be expected to support the Technical Department in developing and maintaining a quality culture throughout the site through the provision of accurate and timely data and documentation, and by supporting the operations team to develop robust corrective action plans for quality improvements.

In order to be successful in this role, candidates will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience working as Food Technologist/ Specification Technologist for a leading retailer or food manufacturer along with substantial experience of writing or approving food specifications using the systems of the major UK retailers.

With experience in effective communication with retailers and suppliers, you will be familiar with food legislation, its interpretation and application to food labels and will have working knowledge of FIR Regulations and how to apply.

Applied knowledge of UK / EU food labelling legislation is also essential and a food-based degree is preferable.  Familiar with major UK retailers’ Code of Practice and labelling polices, you will also have sound technical knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes.

In addition, you will be highly analytical and process driven and will have strong IT skills to include Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
