Traffic Commissioner Appointments For Wales and North West of England Regions

Location:        1 x North West Traffic Area based in Golborne, near Warrington

                        1 x Wales based in Cardiff or Caernarfon

Remuneration: £101,287 per annum plus reasonable expenses. No relocation expenses will be paid.

Time commitment: 42 hours (over a 5 day week) including one hour daily meal breaks

Essential criteria for the Welsh role only: Welsh skills are essential but candidates who do not poses this essential skill but are willing to commit to learning the Welsh language will be considered. Candidates should be a qualified solicitor, barrister or lawyer.

The Department for Transport is seeking to recruit two Traffic Commissioners. One for the North West of England based in Golborne near Warrington the other for Wales based in Cardiff or Caernarfon. Traffic Commissioners are responsible for the licensing and regulation of those who operate heavy goods vehicles, buses and coaches, and the registration of local bus services. Traffic Commissioners for Great Britain can hear cases particularly appeals and complaints from other traffic areas. Work as a Commissioner or Deputy is recognised by the Judicial Appointments Commission as being equivalent to tribunal experience.
