This post represents an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to join a team of staff in Keele University’s Estates and Development Directorate and University Partners to deliver the Smart Energy Network Demonstrator (SEND). This project is being funded by a £9m commitment from the England European Regional Development Fund as part of the European Structural and Investment Growth Programme 2014 – 2020 and £4.5m from the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.

Keele University’s landmark SEND project will be the first facility in Europe for at-scale living laboratory research, development and demonstration of new smart energy technologies and services in partnership with business and industry.

The project will create a decentralised energy system, providing Keele University with the infrastructure to monitor and manage its energy across the campus – the largest in the UK.

The project will enable smart analysis of energy consumption using smart technologies, and how the interplay between contributory factors affects that use. The ‘living lab’ will give evidence to the energy research and business community and local energy and related sector SMEs who will have access to the University’s unique infrastructure to develop and test renewable and smart technologies.

You will report to the Head of Projects but with a focus on becoming an integral member of the SEND delivery team with specific emphasis to support and take on management and co-ordination role that would include stakeholder engagement and planning works with contractors and ensuring a robust communication plan is in place to serve the wider campus community and suppliers and partners involved with the delivery and operation of the SEND capital works.

You will possess experience of leading small engineering or build projects to be delivered within key –milestone dates and within budget. You will have experience of working in a collaborative manner with a wide range of stakeholders and working understanding engineering designs and technologies that assist with the development of intelligent buildings

It is essential that the successful candidate possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work successfully with a diverse range of stakeholders across a large, complex organisation. It is anticipated that candidates will possess an appropriate degree or equivalent qualification and or relevant experience.
