Our brand new modern service based in Basingstoke, Hampshire is now fully open.

We now need additional Support Workers to compliment the team, so that we are able to welcome others.

This is a hugely rewarding role that will not only make you feel proud to support someone with everything associated with moving into a new home, but also to be part of such a memorable time for them. Together, you will be building new friendships, activities and opportunities within the local community, and beyond. You will be seeking out their hobbies, interests and passions and creating some fantastic memories along the way.

If you consider yourself to be reliable, enthusiastic and forward thinking, we would like you to consider joining us as a Support Worker for people with a learning disability. You must be able to demonstrate a real commitment to Mencap and the work we do alongside the wonderful people we support.

In this service you will be supporting young adults who have profound and multiple learning disabilities.

We are looking for people with a ‘can-do’ attitude who are strongly motivated, outgoing, caring and have a calm demeanour when needed. As well as our award winning Induction programme, you will receive additional bespoke training for this service, covering a number of other skills, such as: Peg feeding, Epilepsy, Dysphagia, in addition to specialist training for specific interventions. Mencap are hugely committed to the ongoing personal and professional development of their staff, and will support you every step of the way.

This service will be requiring staff to cover shifts across a 24/7 pattern.  You will need to be able to work flexibly across a range of different shift patterns, including various day shifts, evenings and weekends, as well as sleep in duties.  We will be recruiting a separate team for the Waking Night shifts, so if you are interested in working nights, we would love to hear from you too.

We realise that your quality time is important too, so your rota will be prepared well in advance – Got a request, something special going on? Your manager will certainly try to help you meet it.

Please note that the role will involve manual handling and supporting people will all aspects of their personal care.

You don't need previous experience! As long as you have a positive attitude and want to improve the lives of those with a learning disability, we will support you with progression opportunities throughout your career with us.
