What we need
We are actively seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to be based in our Royston Office on a contract basis.

Participate in the various project implementation and BAU activities. Individual is accountable to complete tactical remediation activities to close the configuration gaps and to bring the systems in alignment with standards where possible. The individual will be required to have the skill sets, knowledges and capabilities to support the installation\execution\documentation of the global project across the entire Johnson Matthey environment. Responsible for the completion of the project implementation (pre-implementation, actual implementation and post implementation activities) and delivery against target schedules.

The individual will also be required to assist the team in BAU activities when required.
- This is a Contract position operating on the Risk Remediation programme, to support the effective identification, prioritisation and delivery of risk remediation within the current technology landscape
Key responsibilities
- Responsible for the implementation of various solution across all sites in JM.
Provides implementation and 3 rd line technical support; Including planning, installation, on-going management, monitoring, troubleshooting, and decommissioning, following operational policies and processes that are compliant with industry best practice standards.

Provides proactive recommendations and actively contributes to the configuration, layout and performance tuning to improve the solution.

Ensures that the projects are implemented in accordance with JM IT Technical and Operational standards.

Responsible for the management of the infrastructure platforms, including change requests and troubleshooting incidents.

Participate in pre-implementation activities to post implementation activities.

Document all pre & post implementation configuration and create BAU documents for handover.

Ensure that documentation is maintained and kept up to date in line with JM standards and policies.

Share acquired knowledge with colleagues through formal documentation and communications sessions.

To carry out any other duties which are within the employee's skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.
Are you the ideal candidate?
You will have/be:
-
Significant experience working with Windows and VMware infrastructure and strong technical knowledge of various backup environments (Veeam, Veritas NetBackup, IBM Spectrum, Data Domain, Tape Libraries).

Proven experience of managing availability, capacity and performance in a virtualisation environment using tools like Vrealize operations manager or Veeam one

Backup software integration with most commonly used applications in industry (e.g. Backing up VMware, Hyper-V, SQL, SAP, Oracle, Lotus Notes, VMWare)

Holder of a recognised IT qualification or has significant IT experience with this technology.

Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSC) and VMware Certified Professional(VCP) 5 or 6 certification.
- Experience creating and running Powershell scripts to extract and configure asset and application information from windows devices
