Do you have experience of providing technology support to a wide range of people? Do you enjoy working within a customer focussed environment? Are you a pro-active problem solver who likes to help others?

We are offering an exciting opportunity to join our Technical Services Team in supporting teaching and learning activities in the School of Computing and Engineering. This interesting and varied role provides technical assistance for digital teaching and learning resources and technical web based content, primarily supporting e-learning systems such as Brightspace, (the University Virtual Learning Environment - VLE), maintaining the School intranet and updating project based websites. You will work with students and marketing colleagues to maintain the student led websites (teamhare.co.uk/, www.hudrail.co.uk/ and teamhawk.hud.ac.uk/), and provide general user support.

If you have a proven aptitude for providing professional technical support, working methodically whilst juggling priorities and maintaining excellent levels of customer service, this could be an ideal opportunity for you.

As Learning Technology and Web Assistant you will:

  • Provide support for the ongoing development and maintenance of the School’s digital teaching resources, including Brightspace, Turnitin and Lecture Capture.
  • Provide front line support and guidance in handling enquiries from staff and students.
  • Provide technical demonstrations/workshops to staff and students.
  • Maintain and develop web-based content and associated materials.

To be successful in this role you will have*:

  • Recent experience of delivering technology support in a customer focussed environment, ideally in relation to teaching and learning.
  • Experience of working with or using a virtual learning environment or technologies that support digital learning.
  • Knowledge of website maintenance and development.
  • Proven organisational skills, able to manage several projects at once, overcoming challenges and delivering confidently to deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and a friendly and approachable personality.
  • A degree or equivalent training/work-based experience and good standards of literacy and numeracy.

If you fit the above description, we want to hear from you.
