We now have a great opportunity for a Gas & Plumbing Maintenance Engineer to join our team at the Kitemark Gas testing laboratory based in Loughborough. This role would ideally suit a multi skilled engineer with a gas safe qualification and plumbing experience looking for more of an internal role.

You will be playing a pivotal role as the Maintenance Engineer supporting the Operations Manager working closely with the delivery technicians, Operations Support Teams, Facilities teams and Loughborough University. A Key part of the Gas & Plumbing Maintenance Engineer role is that the maintenance Engineer is to have a good working knowledge of the infrastructure and services offered by the site, enabling them to advise, assist or run maintenance and project activities.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities of our Gas & Plumbing Maintenance Engineer:

- Lead, coordinate/develop and support Operational requirements dictated by planned and unexpected requests at Loughborough Laboratories.

- Liaise with Loughborough University in regard to all infrastructure requirements in both proactive (TPM) or reactive issues.

- Be the link between BSI, third party contractors and the University on a planned or reactive works.


- Lead the planning and delegation of works that are generated by the business through the maintenance request program. These typically include building issues, stored energy systems, including gas, hydraulics, electrical, Lifting equipment, general maintenance activities and rig builds. To achieve this the Maintenance Engineer must have an extremely good knowledge of the facility and services.

Improvement projects:

- When required work closely with the Project Leader and Operations Support Manager to deliver improvement projects throughout the site. These projects will include software and hardware improvements that will require you to actively participate in both planning, leading and coordinating several activities at the same time. The maintenance Engineer will be expected to be able to run capital expenditure projects up to the value of GBP50k.

Rig building:

- Directly influence the success of test delivery when testing requires a new support rig or adjustment to an existing rig. The Maintenance Engineer will be expected to be able to participate in the design phase and where skill set align either lead a build or be an active member of the build.

Key Skills and experience our ideal Gas & Plumbing Maintenance Engineer will have :

- A multi skilled engineer with gas safe qualification and plumbing experience. Domestic & commercial experience.

- A working knowledge of HSE regulation relevant to engineering skillset.

- Computer literate able to use Excel

- Ability to liaise with contractors and suppliers

- Solution focussed

- Customer Services skills with 'here to help you' attitude - willing to take on additional tasks outside of job scope, as required.

- Self-motivated

- Proven team player

- Systematic approach to record keeping and fault finding

Desirable Skills:

- Formal qualifications in either electrical, mechanical and gas (domestic CKHB1, CKR1 CMDDA1, CPA1 & Commercial COMCAT5, CORT1, ICPN1, TPCP1A).

- A working knowledge of HSE regulation relevant to engineering skillset.
