The Stock Planning Department manages stock levels for the Academic division ensuring maximum availability of lines with minimal stock. The Production Controller is responsible for demand planning and manufacturing the division's titles post-publication.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Production Controller manages the division's inventory with the primary focus being to maximise sales by ensuring accurate stock availability, whilst also making accurate quantity, quality and profitability decisions. They manage a variety of programmes on internal systems and technical knowledge of Excel, SAP, and APO forecasting systems would be an advantage.

The Production Controller is also expected to develop good working relationships with a variety of contacts, from external suppliers to internal departments within OUP and to negotiate as required. The production controller maximizes departmental profitability by employing cost control, along with possessing a knowledge of manufacturing techniques that enables them to select the appropriate treatment for each title.

The controller accurately manages, coordinates, and proof reads content corrections in all formats (print, online, and digital) and carefully monitors version control.

ABOUT YOU

You'll bring some previous experience with at least one of the following areas:

  • Demand planning
  • Manufacturing
  • Supplier management
  • And in a print/electronic product production environment

A fundamental requirement for this role is a keen eye for detail in order to maintain high quality products and accurate data. An understanding of stock management principles is also desirable to this position.

You will be expected to have good communication skills and be confident in negotiating.

A high level of computer literacy is essential. The successful candidate will be well organized and able to prioritize their own workload.
