Within Essex County Council is the newly formed Strategic Commissioning and Policy (Place) team whose responsibility it is to work across the council's responsibilities for Infrastructure and Environment; the Economy, Localities and Public Health and to unlock the great potential of places and communities throughout Essex. We are a strategic team who bring joined-up thinking, creativity and long term solutions across "place" to ensure we are focusing on delivering the right things in the places that matter most. We work closely with national, local and regional partners and have responsibilities for delivering on areas of key significance.

The Opportunity

The Localities Lead will be accountable for drawing together all of the Council's activities in key localities, building close working relationships with local partners, in order to maximise the potential of places in Essex. The successful candidate will lead on developing our understanding of these key localities and work with internal and external partners to support the development of action plans which seek to deliver real change on our priority places.

About You

We are seeking high quality candidates who are educated to degree level or equivalent with experience of translating policy into practical application in either place-based or housing related areas. You will have a solid understanding of project and programme management and a demonstrable ability to interpret and analyse data in order to draw conclusions around how key challenges can be met. Working collaboratively is critical to the roles and you will be required to demonstrate strong influencing and leadership skills in order to achieve joint objectives with partners. We seek candidates who are naturally self-motivated, confident and committed to continuous improvement and innovation.
