Basis: Full Time, 37 hours per week

We are seeking to appoint an Assistant Accountant into our  Development Accounting & VAT finance team. The main purpose of this role will be to support and assist the accountant in the provision of high quality services to the associations various budget holders and customers.

The team provides financial information and support for West Mercia Development budget holders as well as development accounting and VAT for the Group. The team works closely with its budget holders and the successful applicant would be required to assist where necessary to help ensure a good service is provided.

The main responsibilities of this role will be the provision of financial advice, assistance and support to budget holders and setting future years budgets in line with the company’s business plan. Overseeing the disposal & reconciliation of housing properties and preparing supporting schedules for VAT returns.  On top of this you may be required to assist in other areas or projects to ensure the customer’s needs are met.

To succeed in this role you must be able to demonstrate an excellent  knowledge of Microsoft Excel and ideally computerised accountancy systems, as well as the ability to communicate effectively and prioritise work to meet deadlines. The suitable candidate would also be required to be self-motivated and organised.
